HausBuddy Cancelation Policy

HausBuddy is committed to connecting businesses and individuals who are looking to outsource various jobs to service professionals (ServicePro). The processing in matching the right people is a bit complicated; cancelling a job that has been assigned to a service professional doesn’t promote the best environment for other people in the Hausbuddy Community.

We understand that circumstances can change and sometimes the job can’t go ahead and you may need to cancel.

Before you decide to cancel a job, we strongly recommend that you verify if there are alternative ways to get the job done. For example, did you know you can change the time and date of the task by rescheduling it or even re-assign the same job to another service pro? These might help avoid the cancellation.

If you absolutely must continue with the cancellation, here are some important things you must know:

  • The impact to your reputation as a reliable Hausbuddy member
    Cancellations will negatively impact your profile and star rating as a reliable, trustworthy individual. This is reflected in your Completion Rate. A low Completion Rate means you’re less likely to receive quality offers on tasks you post or may make it more difficult to get selected to complete a job that has competing offers.
  • Limitation or deactivation of your HausBuddy Account
    Repeatedly cancelling tasks can result in your HausBuddy account being deactivated temporarily. In extreme cases of high cancellation rates your account may be permanently removed from the platform.
  • No secure payment or access to HausBuddy Support
    Only tasks that are completed through the HausBuddy platform can benefit from key services such as our secure payments process (that ensures trusted handling of payments) or benefit from the expertise of the HausBuddy Support team if you have any issues.
  • Charged a fee for cancellation processing
    Cancellations create an administrative overhead for the community. As such a fee of 10% of the task payment for any job worth more that 100ghc or a flat rate of 10ghc for jobs less that 100ghc worth may be applied when processing cancellations.

This fee will need to be paid by the HausBuddy member or Service Provider responsible for the cancellation depending on the circumstance. For example, if the Job Poster no longer wishes to proceed with the task, they will need to cover the fee. If a HausBuddy Service Pro stops responding to messages and they haven’t started the task, they will be responsible for the cancellation fee.

** Any other cancellation scenario apart from the once listed above will be examined by the HausBuddy Support team and a fair judgment given.

How do I cancel a task?

To cancel a task on HausBuddy, please follow the steps below:

Log into www.hasubuddy.com :: " Go to My Jobs/Tasks " > " Select The Task " > " Select ‘More Options " > " Select Cancel Job"

You will then be guided through cancelling the task. Once the cancellation is complete, the task refund will be processed.

What should I do if the HausBuddy Service Pro isn't responding to my messages?

If you haven’t already done so, we recommend that you contact the Job Poster via private message for an update and allow them at least 48 hours to respond.

When you hear from them, you should try your best to complete the task on the due date or find an alternative solution. For example you can re-assign the job to another service pro or repost it as an open job. If there’s no response or it’s impossible to complete the task, you can go ahead with the task cancellation.

What should I do if my Service Pro cancels?

If your ServicePro cancels the job due to reasons, you will be notified with reasons why he has cancelled the job. Once the cancellation is successful, your refund will be processed. 

In the meantime, if you still need your task completed you can repost the task and accept an offer from another Service Pro. Go to the jobs page and select 'More Options' > 'Post a similar job'. Remember to change any details that may have changed such as the due date, location, etc.

I have received a cancellation notification what should I do?

When another member cancels your task, you will be notified of the cancellation request. You will have the option to accept or decline the cancellation within 24 hours. If you do not take action within 48 hours the task will be cancelled and refunded automatically.

If you’re happy to accept the task cancellation you can select ‘accept’. If you have completed the task and do not wish to cancel the task, select ‘decline’. Should you choose to decline, HausBuddy will advise you on the next step.

The member cancelling the task is also asked to submit the reason for cancelling. You will be notified of this reason before you accepted or declined the cancellation request, and will be asked whether you agree or disagree with the reason provided. If you disagree with the reason, you will be given the opportunity to provide feedback to HausBuddy as to what you believe the reason to be.

At this stage the task has already been cancelled and no further action is required on either end. The HausBuddy team will investigate the dispute in order to correctly attribute the cause of the cancellation either to you or the other member, as these affect your Completion Rate.

Please note that responding to cancellation requests promptly is a matter of courtesy and important in refunding the Job Poster as quickly as possible.

I don’t agree with the cancellation reason what should I do?

When another member cancels your job, they are asked to submit the reason for cancelling.

You will be notified of this reason before you accept or declined the cancellation request, and will be asked whether you agree or disagree with the reason provided. If you disagree with the reason, you will be given the opportunity to provide feedback to HausBuddy as to what you believe the reason to be.


At this stage the job has already been cancelled and no further action is required on both ends. The Hausbuddy team will investigate the dispute in order to correctly attribute the cause of the cancellation either to you or the other member, as these affect your Completion Rates HausBuddy team will continue to monitor trends and behavior associated with job cancellations to continually improve the HausBuddy platform.

How long will my refund take?

Once your cancellation request is accepted by the other member, HausBuddy Support will begin processing the refund. If the other member doesn't take action or respond within 48 hours, the cancellation request is automatically accepted and refund is done within 24 hours.
